Queues in Madrid to buy at Zara's Chinese competitor

Dozens of people queue to enter the Chinese store Shein, which opened its doors in Madrid

The store will be open in the ABC shopping center on Serrano Street in Madrid until May 5

The Chinese store Shein, popularly known for its low prices and for selling clothing and products similar to those of other stores, has opened its doors in Madrid.

The company opened, for the first time in the last two years, a physical store in the capital. Specifically, the establishment is located in the ABC shopping center on Serrano Street. A reappearance that comes just two years after its fleeting presence in the Madrid capital.

In 2022, the Chinese store was on Sandoval Street, No. 3 in Madrid for a few days. A date that the Asian store described as 'successful' after the sales days that took place in the city. This tactic – repeated this weekend until next May 5 – comes just a few months after cities like Barcelona and Seville opened their respective Asian giant stores for a short period of time.

To get an idea of the volume of the establishment, the store has no less than 900 square meters of space. Likewise, the store has a live DJ every day from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

It incorporates other striking aspects such as different games with which you can win prizes and a photocall to create content on social networks.

This marketing tactic with which the well-known Chinese store aims to compete 'one to one' with the big Spanish textile brands comes at a time when the brand has been harshly criticized for its negative environmental impact. A reality that shows, despite the low prices, how far the fast-fashion giant is from the rest of the companies in the sector.
