There are many charming Spanish towns and villages. A good number of them deserve to be on the list of the most beautiful towns in the world. In the following slideshow, we'll give you a list of spectacular places in mostly rural areas that, since 2011, have worked together as an association to promote and preserve them.

Although Putin's private life is shrouded in secrecy, Spanish media have recently covered a favorite holiday destination of Huilo. They say that the Russian president likes to go to Altea, a small town near Alicante.

The Costa Brava owes its name «Wild Coast» to its stormy layout. Its nature, the climate, the history, the picturesqueness of its ports and of some towns have a worldwide reputation.

The capital and largest city of Spain is Madrid (population in 1998, 2,881,506 inhabitants), which is also the capital of the autonomous community of Madrid.

Most visitors are drawn to the Canaries by their reliable subtropical warmth – despite many of the beaches being composed of black sand. The islands have a great contrast of scenery from luxuriant vegetation to spectacular volcanic formations.
